Mola Motivated Artist

Panama Artist
A native of Panama, I started a career in banking while studying in the evenings at the Universidad del Istmo in Panama City to obtain a degree in Marketing and Advertising. I worked in the Financial Services Industry for a number of years and gained a good corporate experience, but knew that I didn’t have a passion for it.

In 2001, I moved to the USA, and initially lived in New York City. Later, in 2003, I moved to Houston, Texas where I decided to obtain my teaching certification. I started working at a local high school teaching both Spanish and Marketing. It was this change into teaching that allowed me to once again exploit the creativity that I was born with. I believe that my ability to come up with fresh ideas and ways to engage and educate has helped me succeed as a teacher.

My interest in art and, particularly, in painting developed gradually over many years. Since I was a little girl, I have always been fascinated by the beauty and vibrancy of nature. I was fortunate to have grown up in Panama, a country that is rich in natural beauty and culture. The scenery and the colors of my land and of its people have always captivated me.

Over the years, I tried various media, but it wasn’t until more recently, during a visit to a friend and artist, that I was introduced to pastel oils. At last, I had found the medium that allows me to express myself and share the beauty of those colors and shapes that I came to love from my childhood. I love the way I can use my hands and fingers to paint in a free flowing and friendly style that I hope will appeal to both adults and children.
